Leslie,
I've watched your post while taking delivery of this car because I too just took delivery of a 01 Viggen convertible. First off, sorry it's been a bear.
Driving home from RI to Atlanta my DIC went haywire. I was able to drive it all day and start it the next morning before taking it to Roanoke Va Saab dealer. He replaced my DIC under recall and only charged me labor and plugs. I have since learned it's rare for a Saab to start with a DIC failure. This failure occurred after I had the car checked by a good Saab independent in RI. I had my 8 year old with me and asked him, "Would you drive a thousand miles with your kid in this car?" He assured me he would. It still had problems. I just got lucky to not be stranded.
Since returning home the sixty thousand mile service has been done, PCV #6 installed, new lights, battery, and I expect to put another $1000 in this first year. I've cleaned and made it mine and changed a few small things like speakers, hood emblem, trim. I was also able to order Audio Troll in what Carl says is his last batch. (Please)
If your really worried now have your home mechanic pull the bumpers. It's a easy way to find frame damage. Hang in there and know that you'll get it sorted.
