I've done it to balance out wear and get some more miles out of tires that had outer block wear that was causing noise. The issue is that most directional tires will not channel water out properly when mounted in reverse, so depending on the pattern you could hydroplane badly.
They used to say that radial belts took a fix in one direction that should not be reversed after use, but I haven't kept up with whether or not that's an issue with today's tires.
Usually with a Saab you can just swap the end of the car they are on and play with pressure to even out wear. YMMV.
