aftermarket Direct Ignition Cassette... your thoughts? Posted by LightSaaber [Email] (#303) [Profile/Gallery] (more from LightSaaber) on Tue, 2 Aug 2011 05:10:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
GOOD NEWS: I just added a '97 900SE to the driveway collection. It's my first turbo Saab (after having 2 non-turbos). It's loads of fun... although I can't seem to pry the keys of of my wife's hand!
BAD NEWS: The DI cassette dilemma. The car has 85,000 miles and it's the original DIC. I read the horror stories of being stranded when the DIC just gives out, usually with no warning. So I'd like to take the advice of having a spare.
So. What about the aftermarket ones out there? $400 is a lot of money for me, even though I know a new Saab genuine part would be best.
I've seen used ones on Ebay. And I've seen new AFT versions for less than a third of the price of a new genuine part.
Anyone here have any luck with the AFT ones?
PS - I searched the forums for this, but could only find threads that were several years old. I figured I'd renew the discussion, since I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering this. Thanks!
