post cylinder gasket/timing chain install and question Posted by pete [Email] (#2000) [Profile/Gallery] (more from pete) on Mon, 15 Aug 2011 21:03:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Fired up the wife's car after doing all the work. The head had been rebuilt with new valves, guides, seals, and I did the timing/balance chain and all guides. Was careful about the timing chain alignment and getting it right.
The machine shop had put all the camshaft cap bolts back in haphazardly, and I only happened to catch that the bolts weren't in the right spots (the bolts that have the slot in the threads for the oil supply). Car started right up. Valves sound noisy.
How long does it take for the oil supply to build up enough to quiet the valves? (Engine oil light wasn't on).
Thanks!
