Your fellow businessman is about a year late. The software industry is starting to bring software development back from China & India. The labor costs are starting to sky rocket. When you combine the hourly rate with all the hidden infrastructure costs, you can develop software for less in the US. Another return to the US is Edlebrock, the performance parts company. They had moved all of their aluminum casting work to Mexico. over the past two years they have brought all back to the US. Even with our very strict EPA regulations on aluminum casting, it turns out to be less expensive in the US. Of course they probably put the business in Texas where minimum wage and average new employee wage are the same thing.
