2000 9-3 SE with 85000 miles. Recently after resurfacing the rotor (due to wobbly feel when braking), the brakes lost its power. That is to say, after the car has been parked for a while, the first several times the brakes are used, it is very difficult to stop. The pedal is not squishy nor does it sink, but it is hard. After some diagnosis (including a smoke test on the brake system) my mechanic said there was a small leak in the booster. It was replaced with an OEM part at a considerable expense, but I am still having the same problem, only slightly improved. Now, it only takes one pump after starting to have proper "grip". Any ideas on what may be happening? I plan to take the car back, but some suggestions on what he should be looking for would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure what kind of booster I have. How can I tell?
Thanks in advance.
Steve
