Driving our '98 900 S, the SUV in front of me hit her brakes, I hit mine, came to a stop, and all was good for half a second.
Then the car behind me hit me, and pushed me into the SUV. Five of us involved total.
No one was hurt, which is *by far* the most important thing. Everyone was very cool at the scene, and the driver behind me was up front about me being fully stopped, and her impact pushing me into the SUV in front. She was ticketed for failure to stop. SUV driver said that's her take as well, and from the beginning says she knows I was fully stopped.
It's been years since we've been hit, though, and our venerable Saab has depreciated a lot since then. I can't imagine the repair bill being less than the ~$2400-at-best book value of our 900S. The hood is ruined, and the back bumper is gone (well, it's in the hatch... and there is metal damaged beneath), I don't really know the extent of damage to the other front end components. Engine's running fine, and there was no pool of radiator fluid, which is a good sign.
Anyone have a good guess as to how this might go, insurance-wise? I realize I've got a 14 year old car with almost $170k on it, but I am really hoping that, barring severe damage I don't know about, I can get it fixed...
