I just added onto an older post with particulars about why I'd like to do this....it you're interested, please click on my "cheapo muffler" post below.

The essence of my query is this:

I soon will have to retire our 95' 900s due to rust & a few other issues which will surely fail the upcoming inspection. The 2.3l non-turbo engine (& 5spd transaxle) runs GREAT w/lots of proper care over the years. Mileage approaching 260k, with no unpleasant surprises beyond the balance shaft sprockets disintegrating 7yrs ago... remedied by chain removal (& tensioner, w/oil passage block off plate installed). We love this car & have a lot of faith in the drive train. We need a bigger car & would be ecstatic if our well cared for motor could be transplanted into a needy 9000s. I'm hoping it's doable & am perfectly willing/able to swap over whatever parts from the 9000 block...within reason. I'm guessing the tranny is a whole different story...but would be pleased to find out otherwise.
