Question about idler pulley and room for tools Posted by bender [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I am not replacing the pulley now but need to put some oil in the cylinders (car is in storage). I plan on puting a socket on the idler pulley with the plugs out and car in neutral to turn the engine over a couple of times ( I would do this on the crankshaft pulley but it is too difficult to get to for various reasons and time constraints at the moment ).
I used the new idler pulley which I will use in the spring to check the size of the nut. It's 15mm. Now, the only issue is how do you guys actually get the darn thing ON the pulley? I have a ratched and the 15mm socket and there's not enough clearance to get it on! There's a couple of hard brake lines directly across the pulley bolt and the ratched comes into contact with them and the shock tower....Even though all I will be doing is turning the engine a couple of times, I will still need to do this same thing for the replacement.
I'm stuck! What's the trick?
Thanks in advance.
