I absolutely love my ST2. Im under the firm belief that there is no 'perfect do it all' bike...but this one comes darn close.
I'll touch quickly on its engine, then move on to other things. Point of note, my bike has been modified prior to my ownership, so im unaware of what a stock ST feels like. Mine has a lightened flywheel, hi compression pistons, big bore kit, modified air box and ECU chip, heli bar risers, corbin seat, Ducati Designs head light, and cored out exhaust. This is a winning combo in my book. Its powerful, but not TOO fast. You already know that Ducati power delivery is unbeatable...this is no exception. It gets out of its own way with ease, and with a small gearing change...the front end will come right up at MANY rpms/gear configs. I have mine set with a 15 up front and 44 in the rear...leaves 80mph at about 4,500RPMS in 6th. Perfect for me.
The bike is BIG. Im 6'5" and i do NOT dwarf it. Its just shy of 500lbs without a rider and fully bagged up. I get about 38mpg highway...which i consider to be awesome...since im came from a 1200 Bandit that got about half that. ;P
Ive done a few 1000 mile rides so far, and everything is perfect for me. Comfort, handling...etc...
I love the monster too...and in fact, would REALLY like a Sport Classic! Im into the cafe style thing. But for a "practical" all around daily driver...this bike is a THRILLING choice.
