exhaust gas problem related to new clutch

Hi gang,
I have a 1997 900S with 198,000 miles. The car runs great so I decided to have a new clutch installed when the old (original clutch) bit the dust.
The new clutch seems to work fine, shifting is smooth, and acceleration has improved although it is taking some getting used too since the clutch grabs so much better.
The problem is now I am getting what seems to be exhaust gas in the cabin as soon as I turn the Heat or AC on.
Here are the symptoms.
When I come to a stop, I immediately smell exhaust gas, which is not noticeable when driving.
I tested by clearing the cabin with windows down, came to a stop with heat off, waited 2 minutes, (no noticeable odor). I turned the fan on in the heat setting and immediately I smell what seems to be exhaust gas. I did this twice and I also tested with AC compressor setting and get same result.
I know its a major job pulling the transmission out, and I'm no mechanic. Could the mechanics have re-connected something incorrectly, vacuum line?
The mechanics will stand behind their work but they are not Saab exclusive and I want to offer any help to them that I can to help trouble shoot the problem.
Thanks in advance, Boxer2
