Depends on what he is replacing. I quoted prices I have paid on eeuro for my 01 & 02 Viggen and obviously did the work myself. SAAB calls for:
Plugs- $50 replace every 40K
Mann Air filter $20
Cabin Air Filter- $25
Bosch Long life Fuel Filter and new seals $20
SAAB Oil Filter- $8
Mobil 1 oil 5 Qt jug from Walmart- $25
Continental Serpentine belt- $30 (SAAB brand- $60)
Antifreeze- 99-01 use the blue antifreeze and 02 uses the so called lifetime/ extended life. I replace every 60K for $15-20 gallon
idler pulley and tensioner pulley. Approx $100 for both (more for SAAB brand) I only use pulleys with SKF bearings- It depends when you last replaced them. I replace mine on all of my SAAB's with the belt at around 60 K and keep the old ones for spares.
So parts are approx $300 or approx $150 w/o belt and pulleys). There is a long list of things to check at 120K. . The only thing I see as optional is the belt/ pulleys. You can wait until they wear- and they certainly will. You have likely replaced them by now- so it depends when, Both of my younger daughters were stranded(Thank god for AAA gold) from toasted pulleys and belt. That's when I started the 60K replacement strategy.
