PCV #6 question Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Sat, 11 Aug 2012 00:13:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've been changing full synthetic about every 4-5K miles on my engine which was rebuilt about 40K miles and several years ago. For some reason, I remember asking about the mod, but thought I had read that being in a warmer climate (Florida) the pcv mod isn't as necessary.
I'm pretty sure my car does not have the mod, because the people that rebuilt the engine weren't SAAB people. I don't even know if the original condition of the engine was sludged, but it was starved for oil.
Lately, I've just replaced the rubber turbo sump drain connector and O-ring because it seemed I was losing oil down there. The car doesn't seem to lose much oil, and I check it constantly.
Should I still install the PCV 6, and if so will I need to check the pan for sludge? I'd like to avoid dropping that pan, as I already went through about half the job a month ago. However, I don't want to take chances on this sludge problem that I still don't quite understand.
Thanks.
