No sludge, but I have either changed the oil myself (or had it changed) with full synthetic every 5000 miles since I bought it new. I have also had the PCV update kit installed that was result of a service bulletin on avoiding sludge issues. (Search this board for more info.)
If the car was well cared for with synthetic oil changes and the PCV update has been done, then I would not be too worried about sludge. If you can't get that information from the owner, I would not buy it without having a mechanic drop the oil pan first and look for sludge.
