She was black as night. Her body was perfect. She glistened in the light of the full moon. The diamonds dangling from the ears of her driver, sparkled in the moon light against her black skin.
She was driving topless, well the car was topless. She wore an evening gown that was nearly as revealing as her cars open top, a 98, 900SE turbo convertible. The last of the true Saabs.
I came up on her in my normally aspirated 900S as she waited her chance to pass. The windy mountain road was thick with tourists. We both seemed to be enjoying the thrill of the road as we flew by them.
The passing lane not quite there, she took off. I followed, but before I passed the group of law abiding drivers she was gone around the next curve. I pushed into the curves and caught up to her, looking for my chance.
But my chance was not to come. Before the next opening in the road we came upon another group of cars and again when the road opened she punched it and was gone. Again I pushed my S into the curves and caught up to her, still looking for an opportunity.
This game went on for several more miles till finally she stopped dead in the road, indicating a left turn. I hit the brake and signaled behind her. She just sat there. Why was she waiting? The road was clear. I opened my door to go talk to her and then she turned left in front of an approaching logging truck.
I returned to my car and waited and waited. Finally a clearing and I punched it, nearly redlining each gear I took off up the straight away. After about a mile I rounded a curve and saw those all too familiar tail lights make a right. I followed in hot pursuit to see her make a left up ahead.
I made the turn just in front of another group of tourists safely making their way down the mountain to go beddy bye. She was not to be seen again. I drove another 20 miles, but there were too many roads, driveways and turnoffs, and too many places in North Georgia that are best not traveled alone at night, even for this Georgia boy.
So my dark beauty and your lovely driver, if I see you again, next time I will catch you.
