It sure is a lot easier to disconnect the shifter shaft and pull the whole box out of the car and deal with it on the bench due to some really weird setup of the reverse interlock.
It is still some fenudling even if you want to leave those pieces out of the car.
But trying to turn the box around in the car and work with it there is just a lot of problems
If you just figure out how to use locking pins to adjust the shifter linkage again afterwards, it is no big deal at all.
