How's this for a follow up? Problem deteriorated to 2500 rpm, even without loading the engine. So I removed the dp to check the turbo and wastegate, which looked better than I expected. I decided to rev the engine, to see if there was any improvement. It rev'd easily to the redline. Almost too easy. I assumed that the exhaust might be somehow clogged. Just for testing, i took the car for a quick drive and the car never felt better since the day I owned it. Exhaust system must be clogged somewhere. I removed the innards from the cat to eliminate it as the problem. Now the car drives perfectly! Excellent acceleration, and rev's all the way to redline. I can't believe how good it runs! Time to order a new cat system. Funny thing is, it looked very clean inside, even the white cotton (which I found out later to be fiberglass, ouch), was as white as snow. In the meantime, while waiting on a new cat, I'm enjoying my new found power and acceleration.
