This does sound a bit like the ABS control unit potentially failing, but another cause could be mud or road grime interfering with the speed sensor that feeds into the ABS unit. If the NG900 is like the 1999-2002 9-3 models, the speed sensor is at the rear wheel on the passenger side (although I do not know the exact location). Might need to pull the wheel and tire to see it. If it is just clogged up with mud or road grime, cleaning it may help.
