In my experience, the seats either work or they don't, and usually they don't. If you have the heater on, and after 5 or 10 minutes haven't had to turn it off, then that seat heater isn't working. You'll especially notice if it gets too hot this time of the year.
The heaters are very fragile, don't sit with anything blunt in your pocket and never put your knee in the seat bottom, like you would to lean across the car. I had both mine fixed a year ago July (I know, I know, but that's when the warranty ran out). I was expremely careful with the seat, but 3 months later, when it was cool enough for the seats to come on, the drivers side didn't work. Easily broken or never fixed? I don't know.
