Lots of questions and I'm not sure by what you mean when you say 'premium pkg'...SE? The SE would be much faster than 9.3 SS, better fuel economy, more useable trunk space (hatch) and much less of a 'GM' parts bin car (that could be seen as a good thing regarding parts availability these days, I don't know). Many consider the 2002 9.3 the last real SAAB next to the 9.5.
2002 was a good year, with all of the upgrades that were implemented over the years. I own a 2002 Viggen and love it. No major issue, at least none that were not created by me.
However, I still think that the 9.5 Aero is a better car, build wise and design wise....too bad it didn't come with a hatch. I'm always impressed how big the car is inside when compared to a OG 9.3 yet it's not that much bigger outside. Opposite is true of the 9.3 SS which feels larger than the 9.5 on the outside yet has less interior space. The 9.5 is a better highway cruiser so maybe not as much 'fun' as the OG 9.3.
Have you driven a 9.5? How about a 9.5 Aero? Aero's with a manual trans are pretty rare but really nice if you like having more control!!
