The way my mechanic does it involves a VERY long (24" +) prybar against the back of the wheel/tire. He sometimes also needs the plastic dead-blow hammer, but not often.
In addition to anti-seize upon reassembly, wire brush the rotor (if you're not replacing them), AND the centering lip so that the wheel goes on easily, and the anti-seize can do its work.
