Viggen's whistle sound disappeared Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 14 Jun 2014 11:24:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Finally have good weather, daylight, and time today to track down the source of the whistle sound which seemed to also cause poor performance on Monday evening's commute.
I couldn't hear it in the driveway with my wife running the throttle. I couldn't hear it after replacing the grill and engine cover and taking the car for a quick two mile enthusiastic drive.
Monday morning I heard it before getting out of the subdivision. Weird.
I need to replace vacuum lines and replace the green O-ring on the BPV discharge into the turbo inlet pipe. But I didn't tighten anything this week which would have cured the sound. Obviously the problem still exists. Now I wonder if I have a failing BPV or Fuel Pressure Regulator or BPV solenoid valve. All are connected to engine vacuum.
