So I just finished doing all the brakes on my car , replacing the rotors, pads, and the rear calipers. Of course on the maiden voyage with the new brakes, which was to pick up my 4 year old for day care. Some thing happens with the transmission. I pulled in to parking spot and the car wouldn't go in to reverse. So I edged the car up a little just to see if that would make the difference, but it didn't. So I give it just a little muscle again just to see if it would go in to reverse. And everything goes loose with the stick shift but I can get it in to "reverse" and remove the key. So now it won't shift and seems to be stuck in 4th gear. I can move the stick around but nothing changes. I readjusted the linkage just to make sure and everything seems tight. What could the problem be?

I'm ready to junk it out of frustration despite just putting all that time and money in to it. Of course I would prefer to fix it if possible.

Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
