Hello,
The ball joint is a taper/interference fit into the steering knuckle. You need either a pickle fork which will destroy the boot which doesn't matter if you are replacing the arm. But most people just smack the side of the steering knuckle were the ball joint goes through with a large hammer a few times and it will pop out. On stubborn ones it can be helpful to have someone prying down on the control arm with a crow bar while you hit the knuckle with the hammer. Good Luck, Bernie at George Riggin Specialty Automotive.
