In this case we did not until contact was made with the timing cover. My son now drives the car and he is very mechanically inclined and professionally going into heavy equipment repair. I drove the car the prior weekend and heard nothing. Previously I always had the block o-ring fail before the WP did and I changed the pump due to the labor involved. I had luckily purchased 2 of the Airtex OEM gold impeller type pumps that were available in 2011 and now appear, based on their pictures, not available now. I installed one of those on the car and hope for the best. I do hope for more than 30K miles from this one but time will tell. I use to fuss about the failed o-rings but they look pretty good, labor wise, compared to replacing a timing cover in-situ. Thank you for the feedback and I wish this pump would have gave us warning. He drove the car home from school with a slight noise that started that morning and it had worn in the cover. He drives 55 miles one way and it started 20 miles into his drive going over. I wished now I would have had it towed home but even when I started it to listen to it when I got home the noise was very slight and I was surprised by what I found. Again no more Bosch pumps for me for my Saab Application.
