It's really difficult to with a few words explain how it is done.
But you have to rely on the marks on the belt itself lined up with the crank sprocket and cam sprockets marks.
When belt is lined up, you pre tension the lower idler to about as the picture shows and then the middle idler and then set the tension pulley to about right tension.
Now you hand crank the engine over and see if you are about right with 1-2 and 3-4 sprockets.
You use the lower idler to fine adjust 3-4 sprockets and middle idler to sync 1-2 to 3-4 and then you check the tension pulley again and fine adjust.
It is probably a lot more written about it on the 9-5 board than here if you search.
