Yes, i can help you. I had the same issue a long time ago with my 1997 900NG...
Open the trunk lid and look down at the left trunk floor area, below the tail light, and look for a ground wire.What happens is, they rust, and loose connection /good ground...
What i did was just simply clean and relocate the ground wire.I affixed the wire to one of the tailight studs, and its been working for years...
