Belt Tensioner Brand Choice Posted by Bloodnose [Email] (#1819) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bloodnose) on Thu, 18 Aug 2016 18:43:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
There are two choices for a new belt tensioner, GM brand, or INA. The price difference is substantial. $90 for the "genuine" part, made in Italy, and $145 for INA brand, made in the USA.
Looking at photos of the two, I cannot see much, if any difference.
Does anyone have experience with INA brand? Is there justification for the price? The busted up pry point on my original part speaks well for the original equipment after 20 years. But maybe having a belt tensioner with a pry point that will never break after a while is asking too much. INA must perform the most critical function of tensioning the belt as well as the original part has. After tonight I have so little material left on my original tensioner that I'd better get one while I can.
