New cabin filter in the Viggen yesterday 1 Saabers Like This Post! Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 28 May 2017 05:05:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
While ordering a bunch of Spring Maintenace/Repair items for the Viggen in mid-winter, I tossed a cabin air filter in the Shopping Cart.
Wow! I don't think this filter had ever been changed in the car's 17 years of life! The media was black and the upper pleats were half filled with dirt and debris. The oval shaped mid-cowl drain was completely blocked by leaves, maple tree seeds, dirt, and who knows what else..
I used the technique I saw posted somewhere that proved it is possible to remove and replace this filter without removing the wiper arm linkages. Unsnap the old filter and slide it sideways within the cowl recess, toward the passenger side of the car, then extract the old filter.
Interestingly enough, I really didn't need my wiper arm removal tool. I used it anyway but the arms popped right off. What a difference from my 9-5 and 9-3SC.
