Could very well be, although leaking out the side was definitely an oddity!
I replaced the tensioner with a spare and that particular leak stopped, however I'm still left with the main leak I was chasing. Positive at this point it's the joint between the head and the timing chain cover. I'm going to try a head gasket retorque, but am resigned to probably replacing the head gasket too. Sad times. :)
… Although I recently nicked a cylinder head from a junkyard and managed to get it off about 1:45, so not quite the same endeavor as a c900.
