I've had these problems for quite a while now and I need some help. The car is an '02 9-3 hatch automatic with 75,000 miles.
[1] When I start the car, I get a humming and/or buzzing sound from the area behind the radio and/or climate control. The colder the outside temperature, the louder it sounds. Initially I thought it to be the CD player (even when the CD is off), however, I pulled the radio fuse and it still persists. When I turn the car off, the sound continues for several minutes before it finally stops. If I pull the #27 fuse (15A - high/low shift beam), it immediately stops. It will immediately start again once I start the car.
[2] There are times when I use the car for a short distance and when I attempt to start it whether it be 5 minutes or 60 minutes, it will not start. There is no engine cranking at all, it's silent. All warning lights will light up, all electrical items function and the battery is charged. This is so random that I cannot duplicate it for anyone. I though that maybe the neutral safety switch cold be faulty, but my independent garage said they did not think it would be that. I literally have to wait it out until I can start it again. This used to occur once every few months, but it's now almost weekly....makes me leery at gas stations.
Ideas on either?
Thanks.
