The mirror assembly is attached to a small wedge shaped piece of metal that is glued to the windshield. To remove the mirror assembly you need to use a 1/8 inch flat screwdriver to pry the mirror assembly mounting slightly away from the glued on wedge shaped piece of metal. There is a small gap at the bottom of the mounting. Insert the screwdriver at least 3/8 inch into the opening. That way you will be prying the mirror mount away from the wedge shaped metal and not prying against the glass. You only need to pry the mount about 1/32. Holding the mount slightly pried away use a small plastic headed hammer to tap the mount up toward the top of the windshield. Once the mount is past the detent on the glued on metal wedge you no longer need the screwdriver. The mount should slide up and off the wedge. If the wedge should come off the windshield you will need a special glue to refasten the wedge. To reinstall simply slide the new mirror onto the metal wedge.
