Hello,
If I remember right I think it is possible to get the a piece in the shifter on the wrong side of the reverse gear lock out portion in the shifter assembly especially if you leave the key in the locked positon when changing the switch. I am not sure but I think if you loosen the shifter assembly, pull the bolts out completely then put the key in run position then move the shifter housing backward you can get it back on the right side inside. I know my description sounds awkward but I seem to remember doing this a few times 20 years or so ago. Ask any questions I will try to describe it better. Good Luck, Bernie
