Last week i got one of my first check engine lights as the car had started but then 1000 feet down the road it just died. Put a bottle of dry gas in just for caution ( I know gas is 10% alcohol anyway). A few months ago I had replaced the fuel injector and the fuel pressure regulator. Plugs and fuel filter have about 15K on them.
I figured it was my old coil and I had gotten a misfire code for cyl 2 and 4.
I decided to get a new coil and while removing the original coil the coil-distr wire broke. Got a new set of wires. Installed the new coil and distributor to plug wires (with dielectric boot grease). FYI Old wires were from 2006
Im pretty sure I socketed all the wires correctly but i wonder if the coil wire is either on the proper distr socket or maybe, I dont have the coil side of the distributor wire situated correctly in the coil center.
I went to start the car- which started right up but ran very rough- I let it run about 8 seconds AND now have a "flashing" Check engine light. I shut it down.
Can anyone give me a description/diagram of which distr socket the coil wire goes to. Please. My Haynes doesnt give that info.
It looks like the coil wire is sort of tight to the distr so i wonder if i switched the assignment
Maybe it shouldnt have started at all if I had it on the wrong socket or if the coil side wasnt properly situated.
So I dont know what I should do next.
Guidance much appreciated.
Jim
