One thing to know is that most of the whiter, 30% brighter, Xenon/Halogen bulbs have about a 50% shorter lifespan than the 'stock' bulbs due to the higher heat and smaller filament wire. As far as overwattage, I say stay away. The plastic housing and wiring can not withstand the extreme heat generated by overwattge bulbs. There will be definite problems with the reflectors and wiring 'aging' prematurely if you use overwattage bulbs.
I am using the Philips Premium H4 bulbs in standard 60/55 wattage. They seem to work very well. For some additional information about standard vs. white vs. blue, see the FAQ setion at the Daniel Stern Lighting website http://lighting.mbz.org/.
Also visit the how and why section of http://www.autolamps-online.com for some good information.
If you really want to upgrade your lighting, Daniel Stern Lighting is selling european e-code headlights for the NG900/9-3 in the classified section of the SAABNET. I have a set of e-codes from Daniel Stern and they are incredible, much better than the stock headlights. I think the cost for e-codes was about $400 a pair. Installation is simple.
