On my 95 900s I found that the inside of the hatch was bubbling from rust all along the bottom edge where the outer metal folds over to the inside (near the lock below the license plate). There was no perforation or even any paint flaking but you could see it was going to get worse. They told me that the 6 year corrosion warrantee would cover it and that they had seen this quite a few times. I never payed a cent.
So, play there little game and give the sales rep a shot.
As for being "anal about keeping the car clean" I feel your pain bother... when by '83 900T finally blew up it was the only one the local Saab nuts had seen with a rusting through floor pan (from the bottom, not like when the AC would leak water) for the front passangers foot well. Apparently my keeping the engine clean never allowed the oil and grime to blow back there and "undercoat" the car. I guess there is such a thing as too clean....naaa
BTW my dealer is Father's and Sons in W. Springfield, MA. Some dealers don't suck. They did right by me when the car was in warrantee. I'd still use them if I didn't have more affordable locals who do only Saab.
Mike
