This morning (12/20/00) I went out to garage tostart the car to go to work. Turned the key, started spins engine over just fine but engine would not start (59,000 miles on car, temperature in garage around 20f)!! Tried it many times...spins over fine, but no hint of any cylinder even trying to light off. Grrrr! Since we are blessed these days with these "wonderful" high-tech ignitions and fuel injection, there wasn't anything I could easily check. But I decided to try one thing...poured maybe a thimble full of gasolene into the intake pipe at the turbo-bypass valve connection. Tried the starter and the engine started like normal! And it ran fine al the way to work (17 miles), started up fine in the evening, and ran great all the way home!!! Anyone out there with any similar experience or that might have a clue as to the cause? Does anyone know what sensors/signals the car uses to turn on the fuel pump once starter is engaged? Things like these make you wish for simple and easily repaired/diagnosed things like points and condensors, carburetors, chokes,
etc!
