Although I now switch to blizzaks during the winter, the Nitto 450 Extremes that I run the rest of the year at least gave me a fighting chance in snow. I gave up on the Michelins that came with my 94 900 SET. (Though superb on dry pavement, you take your life in your hands on wet or icy roads.) The V rated Nittos , as far as I'm concerned, are equal to the Michelins for severe handling, and far far better in adverse conditions. And with as many torrential downpours and snow/ice storms that I encounter, they more than fill the bill. Tread wear is great too. I've gotten as much as 60k out of a set. (The only drawback is that they're directional tread, which means if you don't rotate them religiously and maintain your suspension, you definitely will develop wear patterns.) And the price is right too.
