Ultimately, a new cat will be needed. A temp. fix might be to wrap the hole with exhaust tape ( temp could be a long time if it works well). Depending on where the hole is, I would think the the o2 sensor would tell the engine it is running lean and cause the engine to actually run rich. This would result in a drop in MPG. Just my humble opinion.
