We're definately VERY happy! (Warning this is long) Posted by Ken [Email] (#2113) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ken) on Wed, 10 Jan 2001 04:05:38 In Reply to: Whatever makes you happy., Bruce, Sun, 7 Jan 2001 22:39:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Bruce, I by no means installed the Sport Exhaust for the horse power
increase. I in fact installed it because the original was shot. Why install another "stock" system that will wear out in another 50,000 miles.
In other words I purchased this system because it's a quality stainless
system, made for Saab, by Saab. Now if I net a few extra ponies out of it
so be it. I can guarantee you this exhaust with a K&N air filter has
improved my midrange. It's still pretty much the same off the line but once you get above 3000 rpm's it's quite snappy.
If you live anywhere near Portland Oregon I'd be happy to take you out in it and show you how un-riceboy it sounds. I assure you the sound you get out of a Saab 2.3 N/A engine with the saab sport exhaust, is nothing like Honda's whopping 1.7 with a 4-5 inch free flowing muffler/tailpipe. However, clearly you refuse to listen to reason. Even though you haven't owned a N/A 2.3 with the sport exhaust installed. I find it humorous that you base your argument on speculation and hearsay.
Pay attention to this thread. Two people including myself have stated that the exhaust is very nice on a N/A engine. We can make that claim because we drive them every day. The only individuals posting to the contrary of my remarks don't own this setup. You sir are offering at best misinformation, while I on the other hand am lending my experience.
You've got to be kidding bringing up a lack of backpressure. This "sport"
exhaust is quite mild compared to what you get from the aftermarket shops.
So what, it's slightly larger in diameter, stainless steel, has a straight
pipe in place of the premuffler, and the muffler is a round canister. That
sounds pretty mild to me. A far cry from causing a lack of backpressure.
By the way, if speed were my objective I never would have gotten rid of my
wife's Corrado. Trust me as much as I am a Saab convert and I completely
am, a Corrado runs rings around a turbo Saab. Stock for Stock even the
mighty Viggen would find it hard keeping up with a Corrado. It's not even a race when the road gets twisty.
I hardly find it a big mistake purchasing a N/A car. If I wanted the turbo
I would have bought it. I don't care to get my extra HP from a crutch like
a turbo. Like I always say, "Ultimately there's no replacement for
displacement".
