Stereo cut in and out...

On my way home from the mechanics (had the flex pipe replaced and the parking brake tightened, total price for parts and labor 173.00) when I turned on the cd player it started playing normally, the started going to about 1/10 volume, then back to full really abruptly, making a quick staticky noise during the transitions. It did it when I switched it to AM radio too, but then went back to normal for the rest of the ride after about 15 seconds of cutting in and out.
The obvious conclusion here is that I have a loose connection, but where and what it is is beyond me. It seems to have fixed itself, so I am not going to worry too much at this point, but if anyone has experienced something similar I would appreciate your insight.
Thanks,
Brian
