I just don't remember that. I didn't keep any manuals, but left them with the cars at trade-in time.One of my cars was the Monte Carlo model which had a separate oil reservoir, located under the hood. The oil was pumped to the various lubricated points and I presume that the pump had to be driven by the engine. Thus the higher the engine speed, the more oil pumped. This would tend to mitigate against the possible motor damage that you suggested.
The early manuals were much smaller in size, unlike the mini-encyclopedias that accompany modern cars. After all, the engine had only seven moving parts!
