My son has a 1994 V6 M900 and after a $C7,200 repair bill to locate and install a used V6 our confidence in the Timing Belt became very suspect. The original belt had been replaced (warrantee) at about 50,000 km and the replacement "appears to have jumped 2 teeth..." at the 118,000km (approx) mark, i.e., after about 68,000km. Being an interference engine the valve/piston interaction really did a number, and that happened at engine start, not while the car was being driven. The rest of the car (and the replacement engine) have been reasonably good, starter rebuild, knock sensor, temperature sensor, hatch struts, warning light on saying SRS has something wrong (haven't addressed that one yet as the dealer estimate to "look around and see what it could be..." equated to how much money do you have?). These have been the ongoing repairs but the car is quick and comfortable. Recommendation - make sure the Timing Belt has been replaced, there is no squeal in the alternator, all the electronics and ABS work and enjoy - cuz its a SAAB!
