Hopefully, whoever replaced the struts would have also replaced the mounts at the same time. Trust me, they ARE a problem--- apparently prone to failure from hitting potholes etc. However, the mounts are only bad if the rubber has torn away from the metal that they are fused to. Check them by opening the hood and rocking the vehicle up and down so that you can see what's going on under the large concave washer - the one that has strut shaft up through it. Is the rubber obviously torn?? If not, you may have loose mounting bolts--- the 3 on top of the strut tower. Snug them gently to 13 lb ft. The problem could also be with the concave washers that are up under the strut tower-- adjacent to the upper bearings--if they were replaced upside down, or not renewed with the redesigned style, there might be too much play. I understand from the dealer that they have gone through a few design evolutions to reduce the amount of permanent deflection that occurs from severe suspension jars.
Removing the struts is a definite pain in the a@* job, but doable to the competent diy'er. I r&r'ed both mine in about 6 hours in the driveway. You need a coil spring compressor, a socket big enough (and wrench to match) to get the hub nut off, and all the regular tools. It can be a daunting task. If you decide to tackle it, you MUST get the factory procedure from the dealer. The Haynes manual is also very helpful, but it lacks an exploded view of all the parts which is imperative when re-assembling.
