Well, as I recall, the first time the "check latches" alarm went off was when I had cranked and driven the car abaout two minutes, a couple of days after I had worked on the rear window. I had to reposition the rear window latches for that repair effort. After cranking, the car went through all the normal checks and indicated that all had been checked ok. About two minutes after cranking and driving, the "check latches" alarm went off, seemingly without any cause. My best efforts to silence or acknowledge the alarm were to no avail.

It happened again the next day after driving for about ten minutes and after stopping once for an errand. I thought, perhaps, that it was tied to the roof alignment, so I lowered and raised the top, watching the way the roof seated, and listening for the audible "beep" telling me that the operation was successfully completed. It had no effect on the alarm.

I also considered the thought that perhaps the alarm was due to a door switch of some sort since I had been working on the side window mechanism that afternoon and had just raised the window (side window, that is). Anyway, I've literally raised and lowered the roof, opened and closed the door and raised and lowered the side window, all to no avail. After a minute or two of alarming, the signal ceased.

I intend to recheck the front alignment on the top latches and all the others, but my basic question still remains. "What does the alarm "check latches" mean. I can't find it covered in the owners manaul or the Haynes manual. If I knew the answer to that question it would help me fix whatever is causing the problem.
