Remember last week - SID having a bad day

WELL..... For those of you who are interested....
One of the dual fillament bulbs in the rear lights (brake and side light) had developed a fault whereby the bulb still worked OK, but the crimping on the brake fillament had sprung open ever so slightly causing a regular intermitant leakage into the side light circuit.
This caused the illumination of the dash and side lights when the brake light was pressed.
SID was right, there was a rear light failure!!!, It was just very hard to see what exactly it was. The mechanic who found it said that he had seen a few bulbs go in NG900's in this way. If this happens to you, you now know where to look first without looking for wiring / switch faults..
The even more bizare thing was that once SID recognised a problem in the lighting circuit, it reduced turbo boost pressure by nearly half. IS this a safety feature that is commonly known about ??
Anyway, all sorted now with a new bulb. Good job I purchased extended warranty on my 3 week new to me NG900 SETC. (£80 labour and £1.50 for a bulb!)
The car also needed a new microswitch in the drivers side winscreen roof mount hole, as a small bit of plastic had broken off causing a "check latches" error on SID every time you set off. (£55 for a new switch, £45 to fit fortunately under warranty again)
Also at the same time I asked them to change the oil to Mobil 1 0w30w and the car seems much quieter, smoother and has restored confidence that I made the right decision to sell my Bimmer....
Thanks to all who offered suggestions.
A HAPPY CHAP.
