dudes----- I realize I drive a lot of miles and stuff, but these routine services are nothing more than "checking" sh*t. Like I want to pay some one $600 to change my oil, look at my cv joint boots, tell me they're ok, change plugs (that I probably could have gapped myself and been happy with), squeeze out some brake fluid (which you can-- and SHOULD schedule yourself as a routine service, for about $60.00).
Look at your service/warranty book, then check your eyes. Can you see the book? If so, you can do most of the routine "checking" yourself. It's all just looking at stuff. If you don't feel like crawling in and under your car to explore and get to know your Saab, then you shouldn't question too closely what your dealer charges. He has overhead to cover, and has to charge $65.00/hr to meet his expenses.
I guess the reason for this post has more to do with getting to know your Saab than paying a "business" (and I know some honest and down to earth Saab service departments) to know it for you.
I don't know...... I do all my routine stuff when needed, and if something major feels like it's going to go, and I don't feel like messsing with it, I give it to the dealer. It's not rocket science.

Feel your Saab. Every so often, on the highway, or even around town, turn the cd off, enjoy the silence, and just feel the car. Listen to it. Touch the steering wheel lightly. Make a connection between feel and sound. Between your fingers and the wheel... Throw it to neutral and drift for a while... Put it in gear and gas it.... anything unusual? You'll know if you do this exercise often enough. And you'll know thousands of miles in advance if you have something going out. And enough with the "routine" service stuff.
