EdG, some questions about when you changed your pads...

..brake pads that it. I finally got the section of the service manual dealing with the brake system today.
- When it says to pull back the caliper piston with a grip tool or whatever, I assume the piston locks in the retracted state?
-What sort of tool did you use to do this, and is the possibility of scarring the piston tops high?
-For the rear pads, is that brake pad tool they quote necessary?
I guess that's it for now. Off to Advance Auto for some off the rack pads...
