Looking for help on a recurring hiccup with my '96 900 SE Turbo. Four times this year, the "check engine" light has come on while driving. Each time, a check of the computer shows the error code P0301, which the mechanic says is a misfire of the first plug. The first time this occurred, the garage gapped all the plugs; the second time, they replaced all the plugs. The garage suspects a small leak might be allowing air or coolant into the cylinder, but has not been able to actually detect such a leak. The check engine light problem seems to occur in stop & go traffic, rather than on long-haul highway trips. Right before the light comes on, the engine becomes pretty rough and idles high, then begins to cut out in low rpms. Once the check engine light comes on, however, the car seems to smooth out and run fine. Am wondering what the cause of this mystifying problem could be -- any suggestions greatly appreciated! Should mention that the car has 83K miles; I bought it used (one previous owner) at 79K miles. Thanks in advance.
