I just put door speakers in my '96 900S, and over the past summer, drove a 900SET Conv. with the same problem as you're describing. Odds are, the bass tones from the speaker are causing the inner paneling of the door to vibrate, and that's what you're hearing. You're best bet is to take everything out of the pocket there on the door (just in case any of that is helping the vibration) and head on down to some sort of audio type store and pick up a few squares of dynamat. The door panels are pretty easy to take off, just take off all the bolts with an allen wrench or whatnot. Then, measure and cut a hole the size of the speaker in the dynamat, take the speaker out, fit the dynamat around it, and re-mount the speaker. Make sure you use a hair dryer or something to seal the dynamat to the door. If you don't like the bass, or don't want to spend the money on the dynamat, you can pick up a set of bass caps from any audio store. Just connect them to the positive wire and terminal on the speaker, and it will keep bass tones from reaching the speaker. I have these on my dash speakers, and they work great. It would, however, be a shame to cut the bass from the doors.....anyway, try that. That's what I've done in my car, and it works great! Good luck!
